‘Human trafficker’ arrested at Karachi airport
KARACHI: A suspected human trafficker was arrested at Karachi airport by the Federal Investigation Agency. The man was leaving for the UAE via Oman and had two victims with him.
Notorious human trafficker Rasheed Ahmed was arrested earlier in Dubai. He was later deported to Pakistan and blacklisted for entry into the UAE. Ahmed had been traveling under the alias Mohammed Naeem s/oAbdul Karim.
“Ahmed took dozens of children to the UAE to sell as underage camel jockeys. After the ban on child jockeys in the country, he started selling young girls in Middle Eastern countries for sexual exploitation and slavery,” said advocate Ansar Burney Wednesday.
Ahmed was taking a child and young woman to Oman late Tuesday night. He planned to sell the child as a camel jockey and the woman for sexual exploitation in the UAE.
On a tip-off from Ansar Burney Trust volunteers, Burney informed Deputy Director Federal Investigation Agency (Immigration) Shahid Hayat and Assistant Director Khaleeq-uz-Zaman of the criminal’s plans. Ahmed was arrested and the hostages were rescued. ppi
